Last week the Hawaii Keepsake Collectors Club received our very first ornament donation of 2018!  A big mahalo to Victor C. from Pedricktown, New Jersey, for the gorgeous Crescent Kringle ornament shown below!  This beautiful ornament, along with other ornaments our members will be donating this year, will be used to grace the branches of Christmas trees we'll be providing to Hawaii families who are in need of a little Christmas magic this year.  Mahalo nui, Victor, for being a blessing to Hawaii families from all the way across the Continental U.S. and the Pacific Ocean!

Something new this year! 2018 KOC members will be able to purchase KOC exclusive ornaments in Hallmark’s new KOC Product Shop. The first product shop opens April 2, 2018 as soon as your 2018 membership is renewed or activated.  The second product shop opens on July 14, 2018 at Keepsake Ornament Premiere.  Here are the KOC Product Shop offerings that will be available on April 2, 2018:
From the info we have so far, it looks like members will not be able to walk into their stores to purchase and go home with ornaments from the KOC Product Shop. Instead, Product Shop ornaments will be displayed in stores and members will have to order Product Shop ornaments which will then be shipped to their homes or stores. We'll share any additional info that we receive on this subject as it becomes available. In the meantime, here are the KOC Product Shop offerings that will become available on July 14, 2018:

Hawaii Keepsake Collectors Club members aren't just Santa's Helpers. Nope. Because they're also a lot like angels! The generosity of our members proves once again that the hallmark (no pun intended) of our club really is our spirit of aloha! Our members not only fulfilled every wish on the wish lists of both of the families we "adopted" this year, but we went above and beyond with lots of extra gifts as well!
Some of the Santa's helpers angels of the Hawaii Keepsake Collectors

From brand new bicycles, clothing and toys galore to gift cards for groceries, restaurants and stores -- our members joined together as one ohana to wonderfully bless our two adopted families.  Members also donated Hallmark Keepsake ornaments, gift cards for fresh Christmas trees, LED Christmas lights, tree stands, tree toppers, shatterproof balls and ornament hooks to make sure both families would be able to experience the joy of decorating their own Christmas trees this year!

Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments Donated by Hawaii Keepsake Collectors Club Members and Hallmark Hawaii Ready to Be Wrapped for Our Two Families

Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments Ready for Delivery

At our Santa's Helpers Breakfast Potluck at Amy's Hallmark Ala Moana, members came laden with sweet and savory breakfast dishes, gifts and Christmas decor for the families and lots of Christmas cheer. Volunteers manned the check-in stand and the buffet and wrapped & packed up all of the gifts to ready them for delivery.

Oodles of Gifts! Our Members Fulfilled Every Wish on Both of Our Families Wish Lists!

After all the wrapping and packing was done and all our tummy's were full,  it was time for reindeer games and prizes!  The "Build a Snowman" game got lots of laughs! Check out the photos below. Which team do you think won?

Afterwards, for a grand finale, everyone gathered together to sing a festive rendition of the Twelve Days of Christmas.   (Video of our singing is not posted as it could theoretically make our club a lot of money if we believed in blackmail, lol!).  Many hugs and goodbye's later, two of our Santa's elves set off to deliver all of our gifts and decorations to Helping Hands Hawaii.

All of our Christmas gifts and decorations were delivered to Helping Hands Hawaii safe & sound before the morning was done!

A job well done, everyone!  We've really done Santa proud.  And so, as Tiny Tim said, "A Merry Christmas to us all; God bless us, every one!"

Luckily, members of the Hawaii Keepsake Collectors Club are ready and willing to be great Santa's helpers  this holiday season!

Our Oahu ohana will be bringing gifts of brand new toys, gift cards, clothing & Christmas decor to our Santa's Helpers Breakfast Potluck at Amy's Hallmark Ala Moana for our Adopt-a-Family outreach! Santa won't mind that we'll be having a jolly old time enjoying delicious food and good fellowship while we wrap and pack up all the Christmas presents for the families. When the work is done it'll be time for fun reindeer games and prizes!

Our Maui ohana is helping to make sure Maui residents get on Santa's "Nice" list this year with their outreach for the Family Life Center! Bring new unwrapped gifts for boys and girls to Amy's Hallmark at Queen Kaahumanu Shopping Center during Hallmark's Gift of Memories Weekend (December 1-3) and the Maui ohana will deliver them to the Family Life Center.

Kokua to Next Step Shelter
This Christmas and throughout the year, we strongly encourage Hawaii Keepsake Collectors Club members and members of the community-at-large to support the Next Step Shelter. Under the auspices of Waikiki Health, Next Step Shelter provides services to those who are homeless or at risk of being homeless.  Next Step Shelter's services include:

  • Emergency shelter for couples and individuals
  • Referrals for medical care
  • Behavioral Health
  •  Tobacco Cessation Treatment
  • Eligibility assistance
  • Job training and placement assistance
  • Housing placement assistance

Next Step Shelter's Volunteer Services Coordinator, Kapua Tani, recently shared that the most needed items this holiday season are:

  • Feminine Pads (NOT Tampons)
  • Plastic Forks
  • Rolls of Paper Towels
  • Dinner Napkins
  • Ziploc bags - Gallon & Sandwich size
  • Foil Wrap

  • Cup a Noodle
  • Snack Bars
  • Spam
  • Vienna Sausage
  • SpaghettiOs
  • Other Microwavable or Ready-to-Eat Foods

Donated goods can be delivered directly to the Next Step Shelter.  The Next Step Shelter is located at Pier 1 off Forrest Avenue in the Kaka’ako area and UH School of Medicine. The shelter is accessible through a gated entrance located on Ilalo Street near Forrest Avenue. There is a sign for the shelter on the gate.

Monetary donations can be submitted online (but there is no option to specifically designate Next Step Shelter to receive your online donation), by phone (call 808-738-9362), or by mail using their downloadable donation form (the downloadable form does allow donors to designate Next Step Shelter as the recipient of their donations)

How Do We Know Next Step Shelter is Worthy of Donations?
Last year the Hawaii Keepsake Collectors Club worked with Volunteer Services Coordinator, Kapua Tani, to do a community outreach at the shelter. We collected and delivered needed goods, purchased and decorated two gorgeous "Hallmark Keepsake Ornament" Christmas trees and put on a show for the kids that included crafts, singing and games. All of the club members who helped out during our outreach at the Next Step Shelter saw firsthand what valuable services the shelter provides!

Kapua and the staff at Next Step Shelter continue their work of helping those on the pathway out of homelessness. We worked with Kapua again this year to coordinate an opportunity for our members to kokua. Our Oahu members embodied the true spirit of Christmas (in July!) by donating needed goods for those at the shelter during our 2017 Ornament Premiere Early-Open Events.   Club volunteers from our ohana groups who meet at Hallmark Hawaii's Pearlridge, Windward and Ala Moana stores delivered all of the donated items directly to Next Step Shelter.

Our hardworking club treasurer, Terri K., was unexpectedly able to make a pit stop at Hallmark's corporate headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri, during a recent trip to the Mainland. Terri was also able to get some great photos while visiting the Hallmark Visitors Center and we're happy to be able to share a few of them with everyone here!
